The reason that the shows haven't gone down on other sites is that a DMCA request has to be filed with every site, you want to have information removed.

Archive.org will always be fairly cooperative because they're not in this to get sued, but you start dealing with other Internet web host and a guy who might just insist he didn't violate DMCA. Archive.org is also easy to go after as its a central hub of Old Time Radio and where most people would go to download shows and will also frighten people into taking things down, even if Radio Spirits isn't about to go after every little website.

The reason is that this is the easiest site to bully if you're intention is to do so based on flimsy copyright claims. Other sites simply laugh it off and say 'go for it, champ,' but the archive simply rolls over and takes it. Which is fine, I suppose, considering the size and number of users here; why risk a costly battle and the possibility of shutting down the site when it can be avoided?
